Image Isn't Everything.....Or Is It??

Can a car brand that has always been the butt of all jokes, re vamp their products, at he same time as re vamping the image the brand name holds??

What thoughts and feelings does the names 'Skoda' evoke?

The car that once made the Volkswagen look like a slick piece of stylish machinery, has now vamped up their image and become the motor choice for the knowing driver....or has it?

The new Skoda Octavia, which can now be compared to luxurious cars such as BMW and Mercedes with their new product image. But can the brand name 'Skoda' still shake off the negative connations that it once held? Or is it not better changing the name all together?

I have been thinking much about this lateley only due to it being the car that my ex used to drive and when friends asked 'what car does he drive?' In which I replied 'Skoda', their responses seemed rather negative, but when looking at the new Skoda it does look like quite a stylish car, even with the re vamp will the brand always be subject to public scrutiny and ridicule?

Press Release..who?

After just over a month of experience, of one day a week trips to a PR consultancy in Harrogate I have gained a real insight into the world of PR and what constitutes a typical working day.

Press Releases are coming out of my ears by the end of the day, which came as quite a shock as I knew they were an aspect of a typical PR working day, but I didn't realise to what extent.

At classroom time, they were only really skimmed over in the first year of the course, but in year two of the course I haven't seen or heard of the word press release, apart from it being listed as one of the ten items for my portfolio in my module handbook.

I have to admit, I have gained invaluable experience at the PR consultancy as my press release skills were a tad on the rusty side to begin with, but with the training I have been given on my placement I feel as though my writing skills have now been tightened up some what.

I guess this is true of the phrase 'you can't really learn in the classroom what you learn in the working day.'
