I have recently found that people seem to have a negative opinion of students. They are either lazy or "tax dodgers"! People seem to think that ALL students lie in bed all day drink all night and go to lectures when it is convenient for them.
Well I can tell you that I am far from lazy! Yes, I did have a couple of months with no job, but that was due to the Freshers period where you need to go out and have a good time in order to meet new people, and what is the point of living at university if you are not going to go out and enjoy yourself with a few cheap nights out!
People seem to be suprised when I tell them that I work as well as being a uni student, not only do I have one part time job but I have 3 part time jobs and some occassional modelling work! In total, I work 35 hours a week plus university hours plus finding time to fit in a social life!

I know exactly what you mean. On the other side of the penny, it seems that all taxi drivers think that we're made of money, and aim to rip us off at every opportunity. But how can we have money, when none of us supposedly work?
Some people carry the perception that students are lazy, 'bums', and generally can't be bothered to make the effort - that we live off tax payers money and sponge off our parents. Wrong!
These perceptions stem from the days of student grants, when some students could live comfortably without needing to work.
Try doing that in this day and age. We get loans sure, but these loans barely cover tuition fees and rent, let alone other bills, books and living!
Correct, there are still some students who can rely on mommy and daddy to pay their rent, fees, bills as well astop up their overdrafts each semester, but how many of us does this actually apply to? Certainly not the majority!
It's not uncommon for students to work a thirty-forty hour week on top of lectures, seminars, reading and assignments. But unfortunately, I don't think it's a steroetype that will change in the near future!
Well iv got to say that not all students are lazy, you and lydia are living proof. but unfortunatley i fit perfectly into the lazy student stereotype, theres a few of us out there!
